"With the advent of gravel races, you might be able to create🥀 a new kind of cyclist who combines both components: cyclocross in winter and gravel in summerꦓ," De Cauwer suggested.

"Why couldn't every professional team🧔 have one or two cyclocross or gravel riders? In the juniors, you now have a world champion with Léo Bisiaux that you should try to keep in cyclocross. If you can get 'cross on French television with that ... Or if you have a star from Italy ... then you're off."

Van Den Spiegel agreed. "Don't forget that guys like Alaphilippe, Pogacar, Stybar and S𝐆agan have rac♌ed cyclocross.

"W🅘e should be able to keep it so that riders can practice both disciplines instead of having to choose. I think Mathieu and Wout are very good ambassadors for this."

Although riders in North America have seen cyclocross sponsorship dryinﷺgಞ up amid the industry's infatuation with gravel, Van Den Spiegel sees the two disciplines as complementary.

"Cyclocross riders are made for the sport of gravel. We have to stay very close to that, and see if a combination of both disciplines is possible. 𝐆I see it as complementary to each other rather than a threat."
