"I was happy to do the Tour de Pologne, which is the ideal preparation race for the Vuelta," Pinot said. "I've got an opportunity to do the Vuelta with the kind of shape I wo🔯uldn't normally haveꦆ at this time of year, and I'm going to use the race to get back into form for the rest of the season. I don't want to finish burned out in Madrid."

While Pinot will go to the Vuelta in much fresher form than many of his rivals, thanks to his forced rest peri🧸od during June and July, and says that he's prepared for the heat in the south of Spain, the 28-year-old was perhaps also alluding to the fact that he was more than a little 'burned out' when he had to leave the Vuelta the last time he rode it, in 2014.
