Asked if he was 100 percent in agreement with the UCI’s decision, Guillén replied, "I fully respect it. The ru🙈les are very clear. It’s also true that it would have set a bad precedent [if another decision had been 𒆙taken]. We have to look at what happened.

"If t🌜he rider had continued in the race, we would have had the problem of under what kind of rules [he had been allowed to do so]🦂 and whatever consequences his continued presence could have had. As a result of his expulsion, one of the Vuelta favourites has had to go home early."
