Stage 6 - May 25: Pallejà - Barcelona, 124.0km

Andalucía-Cajasur's José Luis Carrasco won the final stage, characterized by bad weather and plenty of attacks, of the Volta a Catalunya from Pallejá to Barcelona over 122.1 kilometers. He finished just ahead of Gustavo Cesar (Karpin Galicia). In third, seven seconds back, was Francisco José Ventoso Alberdi (Andalucía - Cajasur). A group of approximately 15 men escaped in a break away just before the♑ second sprint of the day and would stay away until the end.

The escape caused a shake-up of the GC. Cesar won the overall classification while Rigoberto Uran (Caisse d'Epargne) finished second, just 16 seconds back, and Rémi ওPa♌uriol (Crédit Agricole) ended up third at 21 seconds.

"The stage was hard because of the rain and the fog," said Uran, who said he was happy to be back racing after surgery on an injured right han𝔉d. "Because the gaps were so small, we knew that it was still possible to completely change the classification. It is a pity that there were not some more mountains in the race, at least for us."
