Personal Details:

Nationality Spain

Biography:

Oier Lazkano had already been a pro for four seasons when he made a splash as a Classics rider in 2023💛, taking second at Dwars door Vlaanderen behind Jumbo-Visma's Christophe Laporte. The Spaniard started his career with the Caja Rural-Seguros RGA ProTeam in 2020, with whom he claimed his first pro victory with a solo stage win in the Volta a Portugal. The result earned him his first contract for a WorldTour team with♎ Movistar.

Lazkano'⛎s promise as a Classics rider emerged in 2022 when he claimed a stage of the Tour de Wallonie after being in the breakaway for mos🔜t of the stage.

He🍰 followed that with the podium in Dwars door Vlaanderen and the overall victory in the Boucles de la Mayenne, having taken the lead with another long-range solo attack. The Spanish road championship followed, and he won a stage of the Vuelta a Burgos in the jersey - thanks to yet another breakaway. His Movistar sports director José Vicente García described Lazkano as a 'brute' - a diamond in the rough who had yet to get comfortable enough in the peloton and who used his massive power to ride away instead.

In 2024, L🐓azkano began to show more polish, winning the Clásica Jaén, landing on the podium in Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne behind Wout van Aert, and finish☂ing top 10 in the Critérium du Dauphiné. He competed in his first Tour de France and later signed with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe on a three-year contract through 2027.
