Biography:
Hailing from Adelaide, Rohan Dennis began his career racing on the track with the Australian national team, and was part of the World Champion team pursuit squad in 2010 and 2011. He was also part of the team that won the Olympic Games silver medal in 2012 before moving on to road racing. He signed his first WorldTour contract with the American Garmin-Sharp team in 2013 before moving on to BMC Racing in a mid-season transfer. He raced with the team until 2018, winning hi🏅s first Tour de France stage and wearing the yellow jersey after the opening stage in 2015. He also won the Tour Down Under and USA Pro Challenge in Colorado that year.
In 2018, Dennis led the Giro d'Italia for four stages and won stage 16. He then won the opening stage of the Vuelta a España and stage 16 to complete his collection of Grand Tour stage wins. He won the world title in the time trial at the end of his final season with BMC Ra💮cing in 2018.
Dennis signed with Bahrain-Merida for 2019 and seemed set to become a GC contender, winning the first stage of the Tour de Suisse and finishing second overall behind Egan Bernal by just 19 seconds. However, he fell flat at the Tour de France and ꧅left the race on stage 12 after running into difficulties with the team. He stayed away from competition until the UCI Road World Championships where he defended his titl𒉰e in the individual time trial.
He left Bahrain for Ineos in 2020, abandoning any aspirations of being a GC leader. He won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021 before leꦗaving the British team for Jumb🌊o-Visma in 2022.
Rohan Dennis announced his ret🗹irement from pro cycling in 2023. His finꦕal race was the GP de Québec.
